Most people do not understand how fonts are used on the Web and that it's reliant upon their own font library installed. Although there will still be people on old, old browsers they will become less frequent over time. Developers will simply cease to design for them, as many have already done for Internet Explorer 6. I'm sure many people don't realise that web page display is dependent upon the resident fonts on the user's computer. Interested to see what happens in the future from the developer's end.
